Kyndal Simpson is Paving the Way for Future Leaders
Kyndal Simpson, a VT 6th grader, recently presented as the opening speaker at the Leader In Me Symposium. Afterward, she was requested to stay and speak at the Secondary session.
She confidently graced the stage with a powerful message on learning and how the learning process is an iterative process of learning from mistakes. Her message was intelligent, clever, and beautifully delivered. To hear her speech is to be in awe of the Leader In Me influence in our Squid Population at VT. Thank you, Kyndal, for making us all proud of our Village.
After she welcomed her fellow schools from all across Texas in attendance, her speech began with a warm welcome. She continued “Leaders create emotional bonds and harmony by building togetherness through participation. Being a leader is an accomplishment where the results are fruitful to the goals we were working towards. We will make mistakes and in those mistakes, we learn important lessons. None of us can learn to be a leader without accepting the fact that we all make mistakes. When we make mistakes a lot of the time we take it as a loss. Or in this case, “L”.
When we try to fix it, it’s more like an endless loop of thinking we fixed it. When we stop, take a breath, and look at it from a different point of view, we can change it and make it a “W” (for Win).”
The audience applauded her in this moment of such powerful insight. They praised her maturity, and they praised her intelligent insight, as well as her strong delivery.
You can hear her presentation in its entirety in the video. Keep up the excellent work, Kyndal. We’re very proud of you.
