Adam Cohen is Nourishing The Future

Nourish the Future is a non-profit organization that focuses on sustainable agriculture for future generations through modern science and technology. We recently spoke with Mr. Cohen, Teacher for 10th Grade Physics/Engineering at Village Tech, about his involvement with Nourishthefuture.org, and how it all started.

“I learned about this opportunity [for working with Nourish The Future] in an email that Ms. Mays sent out to the Science department,” said Mr. Cohen. I went to their website, and tried to learn what I could. My background is in Agriculture, though not soil-based (hydroponics, aquaponics, mushrooms). So the idea of working with an organization that focuses on bringing agriculture-related activities to the classroom AND offers mentorship around creativity and design-thinking was very attractive to me.”

“As part of the 2023 Cohort, I am one of 25 teachers chosen from around the US to participate. We are provided with specific training, mentorship, and learning opportunities from Nourish The Future. We are tasked with creating an original lesson plan activity that will become part of the resources available on their website, and we are also required to give at least one professional development session to an audience in our home state.

I have a strong interest in this industry, and I think that more people need to know where their food comes from, and how they could become more connected to their local producers. I also am really interested in learning more techniques that I can bring into my classroom to increase engagement, creativity, collaboration, and connections to STEM skills for my students.”

We’re very excited about this prestigious opportunity for Mr. Cohen, and how it will benefit his students. We wish you the best in this endeavor, Mr. Cohen!

Bonus Video: A nice greenhouse video from Mr. Cohen. Very ASMR, green and calming.
