VT Sportsplex Group – Envisioning the Future

With Village Tech’s future plans to upgrade and increase the size and amenities of the campus, a group of seniors saw the opportunity to design a multi-sports complex they plan to propose as a part of the new campus build. They took to SketchUp to create a 3d rendering of their vision and presented it as their senior summit project.

“We are the VT Sportsplex Group and our goal is to design and submit our ideas for a VT Multi-sport Complex,” said senior student Cade Williams.

Ken’Dale Sasser, another senior in the group project, continued “[…] since we can’t really go out and build it, we wanted to at least create and design it and give a 3-d modeling of it so when we do give it to administrators and architects, they see the design that students have designed and wanted. Hopefully it gets approved, and they’ll start building it.”

Mr. Arista went on to explain more about the complexity of this project. “This is one of the better examples of a senior summit project where you get to combine elements of STEM, all the engineering and architectural design, as well as the social interviews, the research that goes into this. It’s a great combination for the kids to see what their work does and the potential that this has to have real-world ‘consequences’ for us. What they end up with at the end of these 6 months may say a lot about what we actually have out here in the future.”

We are excited about this project and looking forward to seeing the influence it may have on our upcoming sports complex build here at Village Tech in the future.
