Exploring Village Tech’s Metaverse

The idea of hybrid learning began during the pandemic lockdowns. Surprisingly, some students in 6th and 7th grades (middle-schoolers) thrived in the virtual environment. Due to this the State of Texas decided to fund school districts to explore and pilot virtual schools to see if success for these students could be duplicated. VT opted to participate in this experimental protocol and ultimately we came up with a hybrid virtual learning that maintains VT’s unique learning approach. Approximately one day per month, the students attend an in-classroom session, while the rest of their school hours are spent at school remotely, from home.

“We get to do a lot of unique exercises and curriculum with our students that we couldn’t do in a typical classroom setting,” said Wulff, Digital Learning Coordinator for the Metaverse program.

The Metaverse has 2 full-time instructors, Ms. Wulff, and Mr. Brazil (Integrated Technology Instructor).

Currently still a pilot program, we hope to expand and continue this hybrid schooling opportunity at Village Tech.

We’re proud of our Middle-schoolers and the Metaverse!
